Piedmont Opera names new executive director

The next executive director of Piedmont Opera has no experience leading an opera company or even a nonprofit.
But officials at Piedmont Opera say that Frank Dickerson's management skills make him the right man to lead the organization in these financially uncertain times.
Dickerson, 61, served as the interim chief executive officer of Arc One, a national door and hardware distribution company based in Winston-Salem, until his retirement in 2006.
He is a longtime patron of the arts and has served on Piedmont Opera's finance committee.
His appointment was announced today.
Dickerson will begin his new job March 2. He replaces Bonnie Poindexter.
