A speed-dating event for single professionals will be today at the Green Burro in Greensboro, presented by Cupid/PreDating.com.

This meeting technique allows you to go on up to 12 six-minute "dates" in one night to quickly determine who you want -- and don't want -- to see again.

Singles from 42 to 54 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Singles from 32 to 43 will meet at 8:30 p.m. Admission is $35. The Green Burro is at 106 W. McGee St., Greensboro.

Let's Go Bowling Together, a night of bowling for the LGBT community, is on the first and third Thursdays of every month. The sessions run from 7 to 9 p.m. at AMF Winston-Salem Lanes, 811 Jonestown Road.

The Winston-Salem Ski and Outing Club meets at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month. The meetings are at the Garden Park Apartments Clubhouse on Dalewood Drive, just off Country Club Road.

The annual Winter Singles Ball will be from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the Piedmont Club. Music will be provided by DJ Chad Sain. Heavy hors d'oeuvres, a dessert table and cash bar will be available. Meet other single professionals from throughout the Triad. Age range is over 40. Black tie is optional, but cocktail attire is preferred. The Piedmont Club is on the 19th floor of the BB&T Financial Center, 200 W. Second St., between Cherry and Marshall streets.
