GREENSBORO
A group opposed to union efforts is holding two days of events with leading North Carolina Republicans in Congress.
Americans for Prosperity wants to defeat legislation sought by labor unions that would make it easier for workers to organize, and would pressure companies to negotiate wages and working conditions.
The group is hosting a talk by U.S. Rep. Howard Coble at Greensboro's Historical Museum on Monday night. The focus shifts to Raleigh on Tuesday, where Sen. Richard Burr will speak at a rally outside the Legislative Building.
That rally will also highlight opposition to collective bargaining for state employees. Only North Carolina and Virginia have laws expressly banning state and local governments from collective bargaining with employees.
