CLEMMONS - Clemmons is giving residents who were unable to participate in last month's community forum to discuss the future of the village another chance to be heard.
On Monday, Megan Ledbetter, the village planner, and a consultant from Clarion Associates will be available from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Village Hall on Clemmons Road to talk with residents about issues pertaining to the comprehensive plan.
The village is in the early stages of an 18-month process to develop a comprehensive plan that will serve as a blueprint for Clemmons' future.
Clarion Associates, which is based in Chapel Hill, is serving as a consultant for the plan.
When it is completed, the plan will touch on such issues as economic development, transportation, and parks and recreation. A nine-member steering committee, which was appointed by the Clemmons Council last summer, is helping to shape the plan.
Monday's drop-in meeting with residents will take place before the steering committee's monthly meeting, which will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. That is more of a working meeting and is not intended for public comment.
A community forum in January at River Oaks Community Church drew about 150 people, which pleasantly surprised many of the council members.
At that meeting, residents answered a series of questions about Clemmons and the way they would like it to develop.
A series of community forums, based on those responses, will be held in mid-May. Monday's meeting will be more informal and will not involve a schedule or a moderator.
At last Monday's council meeting, council members said they want to make sure that as many Clemmons residents as possible participate in the comprehensive-planning process.
"We really need people to express their opinions," Council Member Mary Cameron said after the meeting.
"We're very concerned about getting representation across the board."
