■ Panthers: Linebacker Jon Beason was arrested yesterday on a misdemeanor-assault charge stemming from an incident at a strip club and was later released on a written note to appear in court, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office said.

Details weren't available, but police had been investigating an incident said to have involved Beason on Nov. 15.

General manager Marty Hurney said in a statement: "At this time there appears to be two different versions of what happened." Beason's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, didn't immediately return a phone message seeking comment.

■ Falcons: Quarterback Matt Ryan will miss Sunday's game against Philadelphia with a turf-toe injury.

Coach Mike Smith said that Chris Redman, who took over for Ryan in Sunday's 20-17 win over Tampa Bay, will start against the Eagles.

Ryan injured his right big toe on the first series against the Buccaneers. Smith would not speculate on Ryan's status beyond this week.

■ Eagles: Wide receiver DeSean Jackson's status is uncertain after he sustained a concussion in Sunday's 27-24 win over Washington.

Meanwhile, running back Brian Westbrook will be re-examined this week after missing the last two games with his second concussion of the season.

Coach Andy Reid said that Jackson is "OK" and will "continue to be tested and continue to go through the process."

■ Browns: Pro Bowl nose tackle Shaun Rogers is done for the season with a lower-leg injury.

Coach Eric Mangini said that Rogers will need surgery and be put on injured reserve. Rogers was injured in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss in Cincinnati. Mangini did not specify the nature of Rogers' injury, one of four suffered by Cleveland defenders.

■ Cardinals: Quarterback Kurt Warner said he plans to see an opthamologist about lingering post-concussion symptoms that kept him out of Sunday's 20-17 loss at Tennessee.

Warner said he's having hard-to-describe issues with his eyes, a condition he hoped would subside last week but never did. He said that the team's medical staff told him Sunday that he shouldn't play and he agreed, a decision that end his string of 41 consecutive starts.

■ Jets: Rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez was limited during a light practice yesterday with a sore left knee but should play against the Buffalo Bills in Toronto on Thursday.

Coach Rex Ryan said that Sanchez had some soreness in the knee after he tweaked it in a win over Carolina on Sunday. Sanchez downplayed it, saying he woke up yesterday and the knee was fine, showing no concern that it might hamper him.

■ Redskins: Jeremy Jarmon and Chris Cooley are the eighth and ninth Washington players to go on injured reserve, and Clinton Portis will miss a fourth consecutive game as he recovers from a concussion.

Coach Jim Zorn had another long injury report yesterday, and Jarmon topped it after tearing the ACL in his left knee Sunday. The Redskins also declared an official end to Cooley's season. He broke his right ankle Oct. 26, and his recovery has been slower than expected.
