60 works by Picasso on exhibit at Durham art museum

Sixty works created by artist Pablo Picasso are going on exhibit at the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University.
The museum's exhibition is titled "Picasso and the Allure of Language" and it features works created by Picasso between 1900 and 1969. It focuses on works created after Picasso moved from his native Spain to the Montemartre section of Paris in 1904.
That's where he became friends with writers and poets, including Gertrude Stein, who became Picasso's patron in Paris until 1914. The exhibit examines Picasso's relationships with writers and the ways language affected his work.
The exhibit begins Thursday and continues through Jan. 3, 2010. It was organized by the Yale University Art Gallery.
