The first in a series of four workshops in the Biltmore Forest School Piedmont Woodland Steward series will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday at the Davidson County Agricultural Center, 301 E. Center St. in Lexington. The landowner workshop will present such basic land-management skills as plant identification, map and compass usage, soil-sampling methods, and the benefits of using GIS and GPS information. Credit toward NC Environmental Education Certification is available, as well as CEU credits.
The cost is $50 per person, per session and $25 for spouse or other family member. The fee includes lunch, snacks and workshop-related materials. Registration is required.
