DANBURY -- A junior at North Stokes High School was killed yesterday morning when the car she was driving collided with a pickup on N.C. 89, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.

The assistant superintendent of Stokes County Schools, Donna Boyles, confirmed that Sonia Renee Luster, 16, was killed. The pickup driver and a passenger in Luster's car were taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, WGHP/FOX8 reported.

According to a state trooper, Luster was turning left onto Clyde Amos Road when her car hit an oncoming pickup on N.C. 89 about 7:30 a.m.

Boyles said that Luster's passenger, Alannah Wolfe, 14, was in satisfactory condition at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. The Highway Patrol confirmed that the driver of the pickup was Tony Lance Pyrtle, 38, the TV station reported.

Autopsy fails to find cause of state investigator's death

CHARLOTTE -- The body of a state insurance investigator found in South Carolina in May was so decomposed that an autopsy could not determine the cause of death.

The autopsy report was released yesterday by the N.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The report said that the body of Sallie Rohrbach, 44, was partially wrapped in garbage bags when it was found. The report said that there were no signs of skull or neck injury. The body was identified with dental records.

Insurance-agency owner Michael Howell, 40, has been charged with murder. Officials said that Rohrbach was sent from Raleigh to Howell's Charlotte office to examine his books.

Rohrbach disappeared May 14, and her body was found in woods in York County, S.C., on May 20.

Baby removed from home where meth lab was found

NEWTON -- A 3-week-old baby boy found living in an active methamphetamine lab has been taken into the custody of social services.

More than 50 pounds of toxic methamphetamine ingredients were found in a home in Newton, Newton Police Chief Don Brown said. It is likely that the baby was in areas where the lab was set up.

Brown said that the baby's mother is among three suspects in the case. Their names haven't been released.

The Catawba County Department of Social Services has custody of the baby.
