■ Kidney cruiser unveiling: The National Kidney Foundation of N.C. will unveil its new Kidneyville mobile education center from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the headquarters of Spevco Inc., 8118 Reynolda Road, Pfafftown. Free screenings and educational materials.

■ Softball tournament: The Lexington Police Department will have a softball tournament at Finch Park beginning at 6:30 p.m. and continuing on Saturday. The entry fee is $125 a team. Proceeds benefit the N.C. Special Olympics. For more, call 243-3312 or 243-6718.

■ Fundraiser at Piedmont Club: The Piedmont Club, 200 W. Second St., 19th floor, presents "The Piedmont Club Goes Wild" at 8 p.m. The cost is $50 and includes drinks, door prizes, music, dancing and food.
