■ The Forsyth County Tourism Development Authority will meet at 2 pm. Tuesday in the Sycamore I room at the Hawthorne Inn and Conference Center, 420 High St., Winston-Salem.

■ The BB&T program on capitalism, markets and morality at UNC Greensboro will be the host of a lecture by Dr. Tim Monroe, the health director of the Forsyth County Public Health Department, at 4 p.m. Thursday. Monroe will discuss "Health Care as Eminent Domain: The Myth of a Market Solution." The lecture is free and open to the public in Room 160 of the Bryan School of Business and Economics.

■ The Greater Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce will have its annual State of the Community luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Grand Pavilion ballroom at the Embassy Suites, 460 N. Cherry St.

■ The Piedmont Triad chapter of Project Management Institute is offering an examination certification preparation on five consecutive Saturdays from Sept. 13 through Oct. 11 at the Elon University School of Law, 201 N. Greene St. in Greensboro. The classes run from 8:30 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4:30 p.m. A total of 10 31/2-hour classes are required. The classes are open to PMI members in good standing, with nonmembers admitted on a case-by-case basis. The class size is limited to 20 participants.
