Regional Briefs: PART service to Stokes will begin Monday

The Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation will begin offering express service in Stokes County and Rural Hall on Monday.
The temporary location for the park-and-ride lot in Stokes County will be at Calvary Baptist Church, 536 S. Main St. The bus will make several stops in Forsyth County, including Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center and Hanes Mall before ending at the Veterans Administration in Kimel Park.
The first bus will be at 5:30 a.m.
The express route serving Rural Hall will include stops at the Rural Hall Town Hall, Northridge Business Park and the Food Lion on N.C. 65. The terminus points for the service will be the Winston-Salem Transportation Center and Forsyth Medical Center.
There will be two morning routes and three routes after noon. For both express routes, the fare will be $2 one-way or $50 for a monthly pass. The monthly pass will cost $60 beginning Jan. 1.

Parade of Homes tour will be this weekend and next
The Home Builders Association of Winston-Salem will hold its annual Parade of Homes this weekend and next weekend.
The tour, which is free, will feature 85 homes constructed by more than 50 local builders. It is a marketing program of the homebuilders association, offering homebuilders the opportunity to showcase their new-home construction in the Triad. The tour is offered from 1 to 5 p.m. today and Sunday, and Oct. 18 and 19.
It will showcase homes in Forsyth County and in parts of Stokes, Davie and Davidson counties. Prices range from about $120,000 to $1.5 million. This year, there are more Energy Star homes as well as "green" certified homes.

Health departments will get public-health data system
GREENSBORO -- The N.C. Division of Public Health has announced the creation of a public-health data system for local health departments and community partners.
The program is called the N.C. Comprehensive Assessment for Tracking Community Health, or NC –CATCH.
The goal of the new system is to improve local health departments' ability to quickly retrieve and review health data they need for community health assessments. Those assessments are used on the local and state levels to determine community needs and to help in making public-health program and policy decisions.
The data will be available on the State Center for Health Statistics Web site. A health profile for every county has been created as part of the first phase of the system. The profiles are available at www.schs.state.nc.us/SCHS/catch.

■ A story Thursday about an increase in monthly bus fares for PART passengers incorrectly stated when express service would begin in Yadkin and Stokes counties. Stokes County's express route will begin Monday, and Yadkin County's express route will begin Oct. 27.
