Gas shortage leads to contamination problems

More problems with the hurricane-inspired gasoline shortage plaguing the Carolinas.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reported Monday that dry gas tanks at stations are causing some contamination problems when fuel is available.
Jose Ortiz of Fletcher says five gallons he obtained from a connivence store "looked like root beer" and ended up with his wife's car being towed in for repairs.
AAA Carolinas says there is no widespread problem with contaminated fuel, but it says it is more likely when tanks run low.
AAA spokesman Tom Crosby says gas stations that pump all their fuel increase the possibility of debris of water contamination.
Art Rupard with the North Carolina Agriculture Department says the agency has received 395 complaints about gasoline through September, up from 367 complaints in all of 2007.
