Elon lost 3-2 in a five-set thriller against Western Carolina in its second conference match last weekend, but Stewart shined again, contributing 13 kills and 14 digs. Schermerhorn added 10 kills.
For the season, Stewart leads Elon in kills (189) and kills per game (2.68).
■ Antonio Wardlow (Parkland '05) recovered two fumbles and forced another to help Bethel (Tenn.) beat Belhaven 31-21 last Saturday.
Wardlow, who transferred to Bethel from Tennessee, is a defensive back and is tied for the team lead with two interceptions. He is fifth on the team with 15 tackles.
■ St. Andrews goalkeeper Nick Stevens (East Forsyth '05) allowed one goal in 200 minutes and had an 0.45 goals-against average and .933 save percentage last week.
Stevens started the week with seven saves against nationally ranked UNC Pembroke. After allowing a first-half goal, he settled down and kept the Braves off the scoreboard for the final 79 minutes. St. Andrews rallied for a 1-1 tie in double overtime and snapped UNCP's three-game win streak.
Stevens followed with a seven-save shutout against Belmont Abbey in a 2-0 Conference Carolinas win. It was his second shutout of the season and the first conference win for the Knights (3-5-1, 1-3).
