RICHMOND, Va.
The Richmond Renegades stormed back from an early 2-0 deficit to defeat the Twin City Cyclones 5-3 last night in an SPHL game at the Richmond Coliseum.
Ben Manny and Allan Sirois scored a goal apiece in the first 11 minutes of the first period, giving the Cyclones a 2-0 lead. Sirois and Russell Smith assisted on Manny's goal, while Taylor Hustead and Shane Wagner assisted on Sirois' goal.
With four minutes left in the period, Geoff Rollins got the Renegades on the board with a power-play goal, assisted by Nathan Oke and Trevor Karasiewicz.
Twin City increased its lead to 3-1 at the 2:37 mark of the second period when Marc Lefebvre scored off an assist by Brady Heintz. Karasiewicz pulled the Renegades to 3-2 with their second power-play goal, assisted by Nick Permula and Oke.
The third period was all Richmond. Rollins tied the score at 3-3 on the team's third power-play goal of the game. Rollins was assisted by Oke and Karasiewicz. Matt Winter put Richmond up to stay at the 6:17 mark, scoring off assists from Jason Price and Permula. Beau McLaughlin wrapped up the game scoring at the 14:52 mark, scoring a short-handed goal with an assist from Ryan Busby.
Twin City goalie Terry Dunbar made 24 saves. His counterpart with the Renegades, Adam Dekker, had 32 saves.
The Cyclones will play Friday when they travel to Fayetteville to face the FireAntz.
