■ Rapper and actor Sean "Diddy" Combs is becoming a prosecutor -- at least on television. CBS says that he has agreed to a two-episode appearance on CSI: Miami. The network says that Combs will portray a prosecutor who doesn't get along with police Lt. Horatio Caine, played by David Caruso. CBS said yesterday that Combs' episodes will probably air in mid- to late winter. Combs drew praise for his role in the ABC movie A Raisin in the Sun, a role he also played in the Broadway revival of the play.

■ A new witness has come forward in the 2005 disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway in Aruba, and prosecutors said yesterday that they are looking for more evidence against the only remaining suspect. A woman told Dutch police this month that Joran van der Sloot confessed to her years ago that he was involved in Holloway's disappearance, according to Ann Angela, a spokeswoman for the Aruba Prosecutors' Office. But the Dutch Caribbean island's chief prosecutor said that authorities still lack proof they need to convict Van der Sloot, who has been arrested twice and released for lack of evidence. Holloway, an 18-year-old from Mountain Brook, Ala., was last seen in May 2005 leaving a bar in the Aruban capital of Oranjestad with Van der Sloot on the last night of a high-school graduation trip to the island. Extensive searches have not found any trace of her.

■ Political strategist James Carville has joined the faculty of Tulane University, and his first course will be on the 2008 presidential election. In a news release, Tulane said that Carville, who led Bill Clinton's 1992 presidential campaign, will bring in nationally recognized journalists, politicians and pollsters to speak to students. Carville is a Louisiana native who is well-known not only for his Democratic political campaigns but also as a commentator on CNN. Carville and his wife, Republican campaign strategist Mary Matalin, recently moved their family to New Orleans from Washington.

■ No need to grieve, tweens: Miley Cyrus is not dead. Cyrus, the star of Hannah Montana, who is alive and well, was the victim of an Internet hoax over the weekend when someone hacked into her YouTube account and posted a video alleging that she had been killed by a drunken driver. The video, which has been taken down, had a fake message from Cyrus pal Mandy Jiroux, who swiftly denied the rumor in a posting on her official MySpace page. Wrote Jiroux: "MILEY IS OK!! Some1 hacked our youtube account."

■ Prosecutors in Santa Barbara, Calif., have charged actress Heather Locklear with misdemeanor driving under the influence, citing prescription drugs. The California Highway Patrol said that she showed "obvious impairment" when an officer noticed her car parked on a highway and blocking a lane in nearby Montecito in September.
