■ Armanti Edwards isn't the only Mountaineer nursing an injury this week.
Coach Jerry Moore was hobbled a bit Saturday after taking a helmet to the thigh and getting bowled over on the sideline by defensive back Cameron McGlenn of Elon, who was pursuing on a play.
"I thought I'd broken a leg," said Moore, who managed to joke about it nonetheless. "I think he probably picked me out. I'll say one thing, I was an easy target for him. I'm not very quick."
Moore was asked if he'd be all right.
"I don't know if I can play tomorrow or not," he said.
■ Running back Robert Welton, who aggravated a shoulder injury last weekend, is listed as probable for Saturday's game against Western Carolina. So is nickel safety Leonard Love, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury for the past four games.
Running back Devin Moore (kneecap injury) is doubtful.
■ Pairings for the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs will be announced at 7 p.m. Sunday on ESPNU.
Appalachian, which has won three straight FCS national titles, has wrapped up the Southern Conference's automatic berth.
Wofford, 8-2 entering its final regular-season game against Furman, and Elon, 8-3 going into a game at Liberty, will try to solidify their standings at-large berths and give the SoCon three teams in the 16-team field.
■ Jason Hunter, a former Appalachian State defensive end now with the Green Bay Packers, scored his first NFL touchdown Sunday. He scooped up a fumble by Kyle Orton in the fourth quarter and returned it 54 yards in the Packers' 37-3 victory over the Chicago Bears.
