LEXINGTON - In a race for three seats on the Davidson County Board of Commissioners, two Republican incumbents easily won re-election, and one new member won election.
Newcomer Cathy Dunn received the highest number of votes, with 45,500, according to complete but unofficial results. Commissioner Fred McClure received 42,942 votes, and Larry Potts, the chairman of the commissioners, received 41,837 votes.
The lone Democrat, Rosa Terry, was defeated, with 26,915 votes.
Three incumbent members of the Davidson County Board of Education won re-election. Karen Craver received 36,741 votes; Alan Beck received 35,577 votes; and Allan Thompson received 35,572 votes. They faced no opposition, but there were 670 write-in votes.
Clarence Loflin won 47,801 votes to win as Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor. He ran unopposed.
