CHAPEL HILL - Zack Schilawski scored two goals and No. 1 Wake Forest defeated No. 7 North Carolina 4-2 in a soccer match yesterday.
Schilawski scored his first goal at the 64:21 mark on an assist from Cody Arnoux on a through ball on the left side for a 2-1 lead. Less than five minutes later, Schilawski struck again on a cross from the right side that was deflected into the net. Marcus Perry was credited with an assist.
The Deacons took a 4-1 lead on a penalty kick by Sam Cronin at the 79:021 mark.
Michael Callahan scored the final goal for the Tar Heels with 81:14 remaining, also on a penalty kick.
North Carolina's Cameron Brown scored at the 43:47 mark on an assist by Brian Shriver on a shot from the outside for a 1-0 lead.
The Deacons tied the match on an unassisted goal by Arnoux at the 63:13 mark.
North Carolina outshot Wake Forest 13-10 and had a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Goalkeeper Akira Fitzgerald made four saves for the Deacons and Jacob Wescoe made three saves for the Tar Heels.
Wake Forest will be back in action on Friday night at Virginia.
