■ Chili cook-off: The Jim Crawford Memorial Chili Cook-off will be from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Piedmont Triad Farmers Market, Sandy Ridge Road. Admission is free.
There will be food, game and music.
All proceeds will go to The Epilepsy Medication Fund.

■ Indian-heritage festival: India Fest, a showcase of music, culture, dance and food from India, will be at noon at the Sawtooth Arts Center in downtown Winston-Salem.
There will also be educational activities and performances.
■ Retirees meeting: The 391 Retirees Club will meet and have a potluck lunch at 1 p.m. at 391 Teamsters Union Hall, 3100 Sandy Ridge Road.

■ Vendors wanted: The Friends of East Bend Public Library will have a yard sale from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 17 at East Bend United Methodist Church, East Main Street.
Spaces can be rented to sell items for $10. Donated baked goods are also being solicited.
