■ Michelle M. Cook, the executive director of the Winston-Salem State University Foundation, has been named vice chancellor for university advancement at WSSU, effective July 1. Cook, who will also continue in her role as executive director of WSSU's foundation, has more than 25 years of experience working in the areas of fund development, institutional advancement and training. She will replace Terrence Hines, who has been the interim vice chancellor for university advancement since January.

■ The U.S. Postal Service has named Russell D. Gardner Jr. the district manager of the Greensboro District. As district manager and lead executive, Gardner oversees an annual budget of $1.3 billion and more than 10,000 employees. The Greensboro District covers more than 50 counties, about 25,670 square miles, in North Carolina. Gardner succeeds Henry Dix, who was promoted to the district manager of the Capital District in Washington earlier this year. Gardner had served as acting district manager since February. He previously was the senior manager of Post Office Operations for the Mid-Carolinas District.

■ Erin Jones Adams has joined the law firm of Wall Esleeck Babcock LLP in Winston-Salem as an associate.

Before joining Wall Esleeck Babcock, Adams practiced at Mayer Brown LLP in Charlotte, where she focused her practice on banking and finance. Earlier in her career, Adams was a dance instructor and professional dancer for High Point Ballet. Adams received a law degree from the West Virginia University College of Law in 2007.

■ Ombu Wood Fired Fusion, the anchor tenant for St. George Square on Hanes Mall Boulevard, has named Eric Kirkeeng the executive chef and a partner. Kirkeeng was previously the executive chef at Noble's Grille in Winston-Salem.

His past experience includes serving as executive chef at Jury's Washington Hotel in Washington and executive sous-chef at Orange Tree Golf Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz.

■ Paul Jones III has joined LEAP Realty LLC, a real-estate firm in Winston-Salem that specializes in sustainable and energy efficient homes and properties. Jones has three years of commercial real-estate experience and more than 15 years of manufacturing and facilities management.

■ Joy Coffey, a vice president and commercial loan officer at Bank of Granite, has been promoted to Watauga market executive. Coffey joined Bank of Granite in 2003 and has more than 38 years of banking experience.

■ BB&T has promoted Mark Hall and Kay Winfrey to vice president. Hall, who joined the bank in 2001, is a small-business officer. Winfrey, who joined the bank in 1986, is a lender-support officer. Both employees work in BB&T's Direct Retail Lending department at 150 S. Stratford Road in Winston-Salem.Michelle Gray has been promoted to assistant vice president. Gray, who joined the bank in 2003, is a loan-administration officer in BB&T's Business Loan Administration department at 200 W. Second St. in Winston-Salem. Joseph Hellinger has been promoted to assistant vice president. Hellinger, who joined the bank in 2004, is a business-services officer in BB&T's Commercial Loan department at 620 N. Main St. in High Point.

■ Primo Water Corp. has hired Rebecca Downey as a staff accountant. She was employed with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina as a financial analyst.

■ L.F. "Frank" McDonald Jr. and Kristen S. Nardone have joined the law firm of Blanco Tackabery & Matamoros P.A. in Winston-Salem.

McDonald works in both the Winston-Salem and Lake Norman offices. His practice focuses in the areas of commercial real estate, general corporate law, new-business planning and formation, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial lending. He worked for several years in private practice and as in-house counsel in Portland, Ore. He received a law degree from the University of Oregon.

Nardone works in the Winston-Salem office. She gained experience in private practice and during two federal clerkships -- first for J. Craig Whitley, a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge for the Western District of North Carolina, and then for Thomas W. Waldrep Jr., a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge for the Middle District of North Carolina. She received a law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law.

■ Lisa Wynn has joined OTM Partners, a marketing-communications agency in Winston-Salem. She is the agency's manager of communications and public relations for both the North Carolina and Virginia offices.

Before joining OTM Partners, Wynn founded Artisans Press, a public-relations firm that provided media communications and writing services to regional and national clients.

■ Sharrard, McGee & Co. P.A., an accounting and consulting firm in Greensboro, has promoted Sandra Ward to supervisor.

Ward has 19 years of accounting experience. She has worked for Sharrard McGee & Co. for three years.

■ Senn Dunn, a independent insurance agency based in Greensboro, has hired W. Andrew Donovan as a commercial account executive and Ann G. Buckley as a commercial insurance associate in the company's Commercial Insurance Division.

■ Southern Community Bank and Trust has hired Diane Knierim as a commercial-finance processor in the Commercial Finance Department at the bank's Winston-Salem office.
