Series will open Sept. 25 with Irving Berlin music

The Something for Everyone Series of the N.C. School of the Arts will open its 2008-09 season on Sept. 25 with Irving Berlin's I Love A Piano. The musical follows the travels of an old piano from the 1920s to '50s. Sixty-four of Berlin's songs, including "White Christmas," "God Bless America" and "There's No Business Like Show Business," will be presented.

□ The Capitol Steps will perform satirical songs and skits about Washington politics and journalism on Oct. 23.

□ Etta May, Beth Donahue, Trish Suhr and Sonya White, aka The New Southern Fried Chicks, will present a female version of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour on Nov. 15.

□ The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra and the Pied Pipers will give a holiday concert on Dec. 20.

□ Psychograss, composed of bluegrass artists Mike Marshall, Todd Phillips, David Grier, Darol Anger and Tony Trischka, will perform on Jan. 8, 2009.

Footloose, the stage version of the 1980s film, comes to town on Feb. 28.

□ The New Shanghai Circus, a troupe of contortionists, acrobats and comedians will perform on March 14.

□ The a cappella ensemble Chapter 6 will present a comedy-infused blend of pops, jazz, gospel and rock on April 9.

□ Travis LeDoyt will close out the season on May 23 with an Elvis tribute concert.
