A longtime adviser to State Treasurer Richard Moore is leaving Moore's office to lead a group advocating on big-city issues in North Carolina.
The North Carolina Metropolitan Coalition announced yesterday that Julie White will become director of the group starting Aug. 18.
White served with Moore for six years and was most recently his chief spokeswoman during his unsuccessful Democratic gubernatorial campaign. Moore leaves the treasurer's job in January.
White previously worked for then-Lt. Gov. Dennis Wicker and state House Majority Leader Phil Baddour.
The coalition is comprised of mayors of North Carolina's largest cities. She replaces Beau Mills, the coalition's first director, who stepped down to run his own consulting firm.
