MOUNT AIRY
Authorities have found a missing Surry County woman.
The Surry County Sheriff's Office reported at 11:28 a.m. that the Port Authority in New Jersey had located Hope Lynn Widener. The sheriff's office has notified her family. Arrangements are being made for her return.
Widener was last seen Monday at a home in the 400 block of Old Toast Road in Mount Airy. Authorities believed she was headed to Staten Island, N.Y.
The N.C. Department of Crime Control and Public Safety issued a Silver Alert for Widener. Silver Alerts are issued when someone with dementia or some other cognitive impairment is missing.
