Several well-known players have committed to next month's Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club.

Among those who have committed include Davis Love III, Tim Clark, David Toms, Carl Pettersson, Jerry Kelly and Lucas Glover.

The Wyndham Championship, which has moved to Sedgefield after 31 years at Forest Oaks, will be held Aug. 14-17.

Love, a two-time winner in Greensboro, will join defending champion Brandt Snedeker and Rocco Mediate, the U.S. Open runner-up to Tiger Woods. Mediate is also a two-time winner in Greensboro.

Mark Brazil, the Wyndham Championship tournament director, said: "We are clearly pleased to announce these early commitments. During my trip to the AT&T National at Congressional Country Club this week, there was a lot of excitement among the players about our move to Sedgefield and the opportunity to play a Donald Ross-designed golf course."

When the tournament was held at Forest Oaks, a course that Love redesigned a few years ago, the higher-ranked players stayed away. But with the Wyndham being final regular-season tournament in the year-long FedEx Cup, and with a new course, Brazil says that the field will be better.

"We are confident that our field will be substantially improved over what we've had the last couple of years," Brazil said.

Love, who was born in Charlotte and attended North Carolina, won the tournament in Greensboro in 1992 and 2006 and along with Raymond Floyd are the only North Carolina natives to win the tournament.

Clark, who is ranked 37th, and Pettersson are former players at N.C. State while Glover is a former star at Clemson.

Toms, the winner of the 2001 PGA Championship who has been fighting injuries the last two years or so, played Sedgefield right after Kris Spence redesigned it last year.
