Man fell from top of employer's truck
He died after falling into mulch spreader

A man was standing on top of a truck Saturday when he fell into the augurs of a mulch spreader and was killed, his wife said yesterday.
Dana Rayle said that the owner of the company that Thomas Guy Rayle worked for told her about the accident. The owner said that another employee tried unsuccessfully to revive her husband.
Thomas Rayle, 45, lived with his wife and their two daughters on Hockett Dairy Road in Randleman.
"I don't know how to feel," she said. "I'm in shock." Dana Rayle said she does not blame anyone for her husband's death.
Thomas Rayle was working at a job site at 4125 N. Patterson Ave. in Winston-Salem for Re-Mulch Inc. of Greensboro, a landscaping-contracting company, when he was killed, Sgt. Danny Watts of the Winston-Salem Police Department said.
Police are treating it as an industrial accident. The N.C. Division of Occupational Health and Safety is also investigating.
"It is just tragic," Watts said.
Rayle's body was taken to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, where an autopsy was performed yesterday, Dana Rayle said. She said she has not been told about the results.
Two calls from the Journal to the Forsyth County Medical Examiner's Office for the autopsy results were not returned.
Thomas Rayle was a "very good person" who loved to hunt and be outdoors, Dana Rayle said. The Rayles were married for 12 years.
He loved sports and was a hard worker, she said. He was a graduate of Southern High School and had previously worked as a long-distance truck driver and for Duke Power Co.
Thomas Rayle also is survived by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Baptist Church on N.C. 62. The time will be announced.
