Hickory man dies in crash near Blowing Rock

A man died in a head-on collision in Watauga County early this morning, the N.C. Highway Patrol said.
Floyd Griswold Berry, 19, of Hickory, was driving on U.S. 321 north of Blowing Rock about 12:30 a.m. when he lost control and ran into another vehicle, the Highway Patrol said. Investigators believe Berry lost control after hitting a patch of ice on the road.
One other person was injured, but the extent of the injury and the name of that victim were not available.
The type of vehicles involved was also not available this morning.
