Heavy rains have led to flooded roads across the region, authorities said this morning, leading to slowdowns at the start of the morning commute.
In Forsyth County, there have been reports of flooded roads from as far east as Union Cross Road at U.S. 311 to as far west as Lewisville-Clemmons Road between U.S. 421 and Interstate 40.
Most of the wrecks in the Winston-Salem area have occurred along I-40, said Sgt. Crawford Jones of the Winston-Salem office of the N.C. Highway Patrol. "Our hot spots are I-40 at Harper Road, Stratford Road and Union Cross," Jones said.
He urged drivers to slow down and drive as safely as they can.
Most of the wrecks have been fender-benders, he said. There had not been any reports of serious crashes as of about 8 a.m.

In Davidson County there have been reports of flooded roadways in Thomasville and power outages at U.S. 52 in noterhn Davidson that have led to signal outages, said Cindy Vaughn of the county's 911 office.
"There's just a lot of flooding all over" the county, she said. "Everybody may want to leave a few minutes early."
