The annual North Carolina Gay & Lesbian Film Festival will open Thursday at the Carolina Theatre in Durham. Over four days, about 70 films from the United States, Spain, Taiwan, Australia, the United Kingdom and Argentina will be shown. There will be shorts such as In the Gaze of the Butch Goddess and Low-Hanging Fruit Basket, as well as documentaries. Feature films will include Pageant, about the lengths to which 52 men will go to be crowned Miss Gay America, and The New World, a comedy that takes on lesbian parenthood.
