■ The Appalachian Regional Development Institute will hold a daylong leadership summit Monday, beginning at 8 a.m., at Alumni Hall on the campus of Appalachian State University in Boone. ■ The Appalachian State University Energy Council will hold a free grant workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center on campus. ■ The Piedmont Triad Enterpreneurial Network will hold Capital Connects! -- an annual session aimed at matching accredited investors, angel funds and venture funds with growth companies raising private equity for startup or expansion -- on Aug. 28 at the Grandover Resort and Conference Center in Greensboro. Ten companies will be selected to present their business plans to a group of more than 50 accredited investors.
