The N.C. Employment Security Commission said that it will open at its new office at 450 W. Hanes Mill Road, Suite 101, at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 18.
The commission is moving from 630 W. Sixth St., where it has been based for more than 30 years.
The Sixth Street property was bought for $700,000 in August 2007 by First Baptist Church, which is nearby at 501 W. Fifth St. First Baptist bought the property as much for its more than 80 parking spaces as for the building, which it has been leasing monthly to the commission, said the Rev. David Hughes, the church's pastor.
The commission said it would be closed from noon Aug. 13 until opening in the new office.
