RALEIGH -- The N.C. Insurance Commission said yesterday that a multistate regulatory settlement agreement signed by North Carolina in June has been completed.
Coordinated by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and including 29 states, the settlement involves HealthMarkets Inc., and its affiliated companies: MEGA Life and Health Insurance Co., Mid-West National Life Insurance Co. of Tennessee and Chesapeake Life Insurance Co..
As part of the settlement, North Carolina will receive more than $736,000 of an overall $20 million penalty assessed.
