Art Briefs: Forum to discuss art on bridges

A community forum on displaying public art on the bridges of Business 40 in Winston-Salem will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Green Street United Methodist Church, 639 S. Green St. The Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County's Public Art and Design Committee is the sponsor.

Under consideration will be how best to use art on the 11 bridges along the Business 40 corridor that are scheduled to be replaced in 2013. Photographs of public-art bridges around the world will get the discussion started.

Leading the discussion will be Thorns Craven, the committee's chairman; Eric Elliott, committee member; and Mark Leach, the new director of the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art. The forum will also look at ways to promote Winston-Salem as "The City of the Arts."
