  • Allegacy Federal Credit Union recently named Cosby M. Davis III the credit union's senior vice president and chief financial officer. Davis has more than 33 years of experience in financial and executive management and most recently was the president and chief executive of Southern Health Services in Charlottesville, Va., and Carelink Health Plans based in Charleston, W.Va. He is responsible for developing and putting in place a strategy for maintaining the financial strength of the credit union.
  • Fidelity Bank said that Bertha Prim has joined its team in Kernersville as a relationship banker. Prim will specialize in consumer deposit service, commercial deposit service, consumer lending, mortgage lending and customer service. She has more than 20 years of banking experience in the local market. Prior to joining Fidelity Bank, she was a customer sales and service representative for Wachovia Bank, now Wells Fargo.
  • The Independent Insurance Agents of North Carolina recently elected Russell G. Crissman, a partner of CMS Insurance & Financial Services LLP in Yadkinville and Elkin, as a member of IIANC's board of directors for a second term. He represents District 9, comprising Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Iredell, Rowan, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes and Yadkin counties. Crissman has served on the board since 2007. He is also the board liaison for the association's Agency Management & Technology Committee.
  • Judy Sutherin, the membership director of the Piedmont Club, was recently recognized by ClubCorp with the Club 100 award for surpassing her 2011 enrollment goal. Sutherin is the first person in the eastern half of the United States to have surpassed her goal prior to the end of the year. She has been with the Piedmont Club for 17 years.
  • Pamela Duncan, a professor of neurology at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, has been chosen by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to serve on its Innovation Advisors Program. Duncan is one of 73 health care and allied health professionals chosen from 920 applications to lead pioneering work that will test new models of care for those who are covered by Medicare, Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program. Duncan's project focuses on lowering the incidence of patient readmission to the hospital.
  • The law firm of Constangy, Brooks & Smith LLP said that three of its attorneys in Winston-Salem have been included in Business North Carolina's 2012 Legal Elite in the Employment category. The list represents the top 3 percent of attorneys in the state as chosen by their peers: Kenneth P. Carlson Jr., a partner; John J. Doyle Jr., a partner; and W.R. Loftis Jr., also a partner. Carlson is a senior litigator who has successfully defended companies in virtually every aspect of employment law. He also has a strong practice in drafting employment contracts, independent contractor agreements, and noncompetition agreements. Doyle specializes in labor and employment relations law with a practice limited to representation of management clients. He has represented employers in all aspects of labor and employment law matters and is a frequent writer and lecturer on various labor and employment law subjects. Loftis is the Winston-Salem office head and a senior litigator who has tried cases to jury verdict involving every aspect of the employer and employee relationship. He has defended a number of class-action claims and has defended cases involving various claims, including sexual and racial harassment and retaliatory discharge.
  • Champion Industries, a manufacturer of commercial warewashing systems, recently received the Foodservice Equipment & Supplies Magazine "Best in Class" award within the Dishwasher/Warewasher category for consultants. Champion also tied for the "Best in Class Award" in the Dishwasher/Warewasher Category for Operators. These awards are broken up into overall, dealer, consultant and operator segments. Champion Industries is a division of the Ali Group based in Winston-Salem.
  • Thomasville Veterinary Hospital at 303 National Highway in Thomasville recently earned accreditation following a thorough evaluation by the American Animal Hospital Association that included a quality assessment review of the hospital's practice protocols, medical equipment, facility and client service. Only 15 percent of all small animal hospitals in the U.S. have achieved accreditation by the association. Thomasville Veterinary Hospital must continue to be evaluated regularly by AAHA to maintain accredited status.
  • The town of Pulaski, Va., recently earned the 2011 Community Preservation Award from Preservation Virginia for the rehabilitation of the historic 1888 Pulaski Train Station. David E. Gall, Architect P.A., of Winston-Salem, was the architect for the project. The associate architect was Barry Rakes of Fincastle, Va. The contractor was South End Construction Inc. of Roanoke, Va.
