- Bank of America has appointed David Welch as its small-business banker for Winston-Salem. Welch will provide more personalized attention to small-business owners by spending time with them at their business and learning more about what their companies do. Small-business bankers will consult with small-business owners and assess their companies' deposit, credit and cash management needs. Welch previously worked for Salem Financial Group. He has more than 20 years of experience working with small businesses.
- Walter Robbs Callahan & Pierce Architects P.A. has announced that Brian Kubecki, after completing state licensure requirements, is registered to practice architecture in the state of North Carolina. His member status within the national professional organization, The American Institute of Architects, has been upgraded to AIA. Walter Robbs also reported that Intern Architect Lauren Frye has earned designation as a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Accredited Professional.
- Drivers of Unifi Manufacturing Inc. recently won national awards for having one of the safest trucking fleets in the country. This is the second consecutive year drivers of the Unifi fleet have received these awards. The drivers of Unifi Manufacturing received first place in the truckload/local division as well as first place for the drivers in general commodities for less than 300 employees. Unifi, based in Greensboro, has a large operation in Yadkinville.
- The Green Building Initiative has awarded the "green" renovations and additions to the C.E. McCall Middle School in Montoursville a 2-Globes rating. Kristen McKissick of McKissick Associates InSights, an interior design firm in Winston-Salem, completed the significant interior renovations at McCall.
