The number of foreclosure filings in North Carolina increased by 54 percent in February to 3,141 compared with February 2009, RealtyTrac Inc. said in a report to be released today. However, the number of filings was down about 1 percent from 3,164 in January.
The Winston-Salem metropolitan statistical area had 244 foreclosure filings in February, up 9.9 percent from 222 in the year-earlier period, but down 3.2 percent from 252 filings in January. The MSA consists of Davie, Forsyth, Stokes and Yadkin counties.
Forsyth accounted for 228 of the filings in February, 232 in January and 205 in February 2009.
Foreclosure filings in the Greensboro-High Point MSA were down 7.6 percent to 341 in November compared with February 2009. Filings in the Charlotte-Gastonia-Concord MSA were up 131 percent to 1,384. Filings in the Durham MSA were up nearly 200 percent to 98. Filings in the Raleigh-Cary MSA were up 25 percent to 520.
