Foreclosure filings continue to rise in N.C., Winston-Salem

Foreclosure filings in North Carolina were up 42 percent in July to 4,889 from July 2009, RealtyTrac Inc. said in a report timed for release today.

The number of filings was also up 10.3 percent from the 4,431 in June 2010.

The Winston-Salem metropolitan statistical area had 530 foreclosure filings in July, up 103.4 percent from the year-earlier period, and up 55 percent from June. The MSA consists of Davie, Forsyth, Stokes and Yadkin counties.

Forsyth County accounted for 483 of the filings in July, 238 in the second half of 2009, and 286 in June.

Foreclosure filings in the Greensboro-High Point MSA were up 38.8 percent to 730 in July, compared with July 2009. Filings in the Charlotte-Gastonia-Concord MSA were up 15 percent to 1,957. Filings in the Durham MSA were up 51.6 percent to 185. Filings in the Raleigh-Cary MSA were up 61.1
