First Community Bancshares buys Murphy Insurance of W.Va.

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. -- First Community Bancshares Inc. said Monday that it has bought Murphy Insurance Inc. of Princeton, W.Va.

Murphy, founded in 1914, offers a comprehensive suite of personal- and commercial-insurance services. It has been merged with the bank's GreenPoint Insurance Group, which is based in High Point, N.C. GreenPoint has eight locations in North Carolina and Virginia. -- Richard Craver
