Health-care company picks Charlotte for headquarters

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Premier Inc., a health-care purchasing and data company, said yesterday that it is moving its headquarters from San Diego to Charlotte.

Premier said it would create 300 jobs and spend $17.7 million in capital investments over five years. It already has 300 employees in Charlotte.

It is owned by more than 200 not-for-profit hospitals and health-care systems that share clinical information and leverage purchasing to reduce costs. The alliance works with more than 2,200 hospitals and 63,000 health-care providers.

The company could receive nearly $4.1 million from the state's Job Development Investment Grant program if it creates the jobs and keeps them through 2018. The 300 new jobs will pay an overall average wage of $69,400 a year, not including benefits.
