»  Comments | Post a Comment

A local job-training program at Forsyth Technical Community College said yesterday that it has received $16,000 from the N.C. Tobacco Trust Fund Commission.

The commission has provided $116,000 to the Project Skill Up program since it began providing financial aid in 2006.

Scholarship funds are based on need and are provided to people who are unemployed or seeking to advance in their jobs.

About 80 people in Forsyth and Stokes counties each year have received funds for short-term occupational training.
