State agency using grant for green-jobs initiative

RALEIGH -- The labor-market information division of the N.C. Employment Security Commission has received grants worth more than $1 million toward a green-jobs initiative.

The money will be used to collect, analyze and disseminate labor-market information focused on energy efficiency and renewable energy industries, as well as green jobs.

The commission will use the $946,000 grant to conduct a green-jobs survey, including determining local and statewide demand for green jobs. A $71,000 grant will be used to help with addressing the methodology of used to estimate future green-job demand.
