Gov. Bev Perdue said yesterday that North Carolina will receive 23,700 training vouchers related to Microsoft Corp.'s public-private partnership to provide free technology training.
The partnership, called "Microsoft Elevate America," is in conjunction with the N.C. Community College System, the Division of Workforce Development of the N.C. Commerce Department and the N.C. Employment Security Commission.
The agencies will distribute the vouchers during the next 90 days on a first-come, first-served basis across the state. Courses range from basic technology literacy to intermediate-level technology skills. A portion of the vouchers will be issued to North Carolina residents for Microsoft certification exams, all at no cost to the recipients.
North Carolina will receive 10,500 vouchers for Microsoft Windows and Office online training, 10,500 vouchers for Microsoft Business Certification Exams and 2,700 vouchers for advanced technical professional level online training:
