Targacept Inc. said yesterday that it will be added to the NASDAQ Biotechnology Index, beginning Monday.
The index includes securities of companies that are classified as either biotechnology or pharmaceuticals.
The companies must meet minimum requirements for market capitalization, average daily trading volume and seasoning as a public company, as well as other eligibility criteria. The index is adjusted in May and November.
