Domestic furniture orders fell less than was expected

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The decline in orders for domestic furniture manufacturers and marketers eased slightly in February, declining 18 percent year-over-year to a value of $1.64 million, Smith Leonard PLLC, a financial-services company based in High Point, reported yesterday.

It was the first time since September that the decline in shipments was below 20 percent. The sales, however, are compared with already weak year-over-year sales.

The survey found that 89 percent of the participants reported declines in orders during January, with about 65 percent down more than 20 percent.

However, the orders were up 19 percent compared with January.
