Kernersville is getting a second bowling alley.

Cinema Bowl at 521 Cinema Drive near Countryside Cinema is planning to open this weekend. The bowling alley is going in the building that once housed Piedmont Bowl, which closed three years ago.

The owners are Thomas Farley and Mark Pickford of Charlotte and Chris Caldwell of Kernersville. Farley and Pickford are professional bowlers, and Caldwell is Pickford's brother.

Cinema Bowl will have 24 lanes, a snack bar and a bar. It will employ 17 people.

"The town is growing so much that I think it's time for them to have another center in town," Farley said.

Kernersville also has Countryside Bowling Lane at 1005 Masten Drive off South Main Street.
