JetAmerica, a planned low-fare carrier, said yesterday that it has delayed the start of flight operations for a month. It cited problems securing space at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey.
It said it is refunding about $500,000 in credit-card purchases by more than 6,400 customers.
In May, JetAmerica said it was considering Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro and Smith Reynolds Airport in Winston-Salem for future service.
JetAmerica had planned to offer 34 flights a day, starting July 13, to Newark and Minneapolis and to under-served airports in Melbourne, Fla.; Toledo, Ohio; Lansing, Mich.; and South Bend, Ind.
The projected start is now Aug. 14.
