Salem Electric temporarily lays off about 30 workers

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Salem Electric Co. said yesterday that it has temporarily laid off about 30 employees, or 10 percent of its local work force, since the first of the year.

Brad Myers, the president of the company, said that while the company has had several busy years recently, it has experienced a larger-than-normal decline in orders in recent months.

"We expect this year to be slower, but we certainly hope that these layoffs are truly temporary," Myers said.
