Foreclosure filings down from October, up from last November

The number of foreclosure filings in North Carolina increased by 17.2 percent in November to 3,273, compared with November 2008, RealtyTrac Inc. reported yesterday.

However, the number of filings was down 5 percent from 3,447 in October.

The Winston-Salem metropolitan statistical area had 307 foreclosure filings in November, up 12.4 percent from 273 in the year-earlier period, but down 15.9 percent from 365 filings in October. The MSA consists of Davie, Forsyth, Stokes and Yadkin counties.

Forsyth accounted for 285 of the filings in November 2009, 346 in October 2009 and 260 in November 2008.

Foreclosure filings in the Greensboro-High Point MSA were down 6.6 percent, to 478, in November, compared with November 2008. Filings in the Charlotte-Gastonia-Concord MSA were up 58.4 percent to 1,150. Filings in the Raleigh-Cary MSA were up 39.3 percent to 542.
