DURHAM -- Advertising agency McKinney has bought itself back from Havas, the French media conglomerate that had been the agency's holding company since 2001.

Details of the sale were not disclosed, but Brad Brinegar, the chairman and chief executive of McKinney, told the Durham Herald-Sun that the separation from Havas was amicable.

Brinegar said that Havas is providing a majority of the financing for the buyback, and McKinney did not lose any clients.
