»  Comments | Post a Comment

A North Carolina plant that employs 143 people making residential electrical-wiring devices will close by the end of 2009 as the work is consolidated at other plants.

Pass & Seymour/Legrand, based in Syracuse, N.Y., said Wednesday that it has started the phase-out of its plant in Whitsett, which it has operated since the mid-1990s. It also has operations in Concord and outside the U.S.

The company said that there are no plans for immediate layoffs, and employees will be notified at least 60 days before their jobs are eliminated.
