Twelve companies with significant Triad ties were named to the 10th annual N.C. Family Friendly 40 list, released yesterday by Piedmont Parent, Charlotte Parent and Carolina Parent magazines.

The magazines said that the businesses are recognized for their readiness to listen and respond to parents' needs as they strive to balance work and family.

Those with Triad ties making the list are American Express, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, Deuterman Law Group, Grant Thornton LLP, High Point Regional Health Systems, Kindermusik International, Novant Health Inc., Primrose School, Replacements Ltd., Senn Dunn Insurance and Wachovia Corp.

Many of the 40 companies offer employees flexible hours, the ability to work at home, job-sharing, paid maternity/paternity leave, college-savings plans and tuition-reimbursement programs.
